Dr. Kyoko Yoshioka-Maeda is an Associate Professor of the Department of Health Sciences and Nursing, Graduate School of Medicine at UTokyo. Prior to coming to UTokyo she worked as a nurse and a public health nurse, before obtaining a master’s and doctoral degrees from the Department of Health Science and Nursing, Graduate School of Medicine at UTokyo. She then worked again as a public health nurse and became an associate professor at the Department of Community Nursing, School of Nursing at Tokyo Medical University. Then she obtained a position as a tenured senior researcher and senior chief researcher at the Department of Health Promotion for the National Institute of Public Health.She conducts research with the goal of improving the community’s health and quality of life and to support their residents’ living. Her areas of interest include research focused on developing projects, programs, policies, and community healthcare systems that provide solutions to health and lifestyle issues, as well as fostering a research mindset in public health nurses and researchers with the mindset of a public health nurse. Currently, she works to explain tacit knowledge regarding the practical skills of public health nurses. These skills and practices are promoted through the utilization of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Virtual Reality and simulation education.
