Kaori Yonezawa

Dr. Kaori Yonezawa is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Midwifery and Women’s Health. She currently teaches classes in midwifery and maternal nursing. Prior to teaching at UTokyo, she worked as a registered midwife in obstetrics and gynecology at Tokyo-Kita Medical Center. She is passionate about advancing midwifery care that supports the healthy development of newborns. Her research interests are neonatal skin care and infant care to prevent allergic diseases.
Dr. Yonezawa is currently serving on the editorial boards of the Journal of Japan Academy of Midwifery, and Japanese Association for Research in Family Nursing. She has published in international journals, including the Journal of Dermatology, Pediatric Dermatology, Allergy, Asthma & Clinical Immunology, and the Journal of Neonatal Nursing. Her paper “Effects of moisturizing skincare on skin barrier function and the prevention of skin problems in 3-month-old infants: A randomized controlled trial” was named the “Most downloaded article in 2018” in the Journal of Dermatology.
