Gerontological Home Care and Long-term Care/Palliative Care Nursing
Dr. Asa Inagaki-Asano is a project researcher in the Department of Gerontological Homecare and Long-term Care Nursing at the University of Tokyo. She worked as a nurse at the operation theater, in disaster areas, developing countries, and homecare. She received her master’s degree and Ph.D. in Health Science in the same department. Her doctoral dissertation explores the effectiveness of homecare nursing use to reduce the incidence of potentially avoidable hospitalization (PAH) and the length of PAH using a 12-month prospective cohort study. She indicated that homecare nursing use significantly reduced the incidence of PAH. She envisions a society where people stay in their preferred place whenever they want, and there is no inequality in the accessibility of homecare resources. To achieve her vision, she will work with not only clinical healthcare professionals but also caregivers, and care recipients.
