A modified nurse-led thermography-driven preventative foot care protocol implemented in low-resource settings effectively reduced the recurrence rate of diabetic foot ulcers in Indonesia. This study demonstrates the potential use of thermographic evaluation-based risk assessment to guide foot care frequency and thus reduce utilization of medical resources in low-resource countries. Patients’ foot care behavior was significantly improved after six months of intervention, highlighting the positive impact of visualization and education provided to participants and caregivers based on thermographic images.
