It is important to treat severe infant eczema on the face as soon as possible. However, it is difficult for caregivers to assess. We developed an Infant facial skin assessment tool (IFSAT). This study included two phases, “development of the IFSAT” and “testing to determine reliability and validity”. The IFSAT draft was developed based on a previous literature review and qualitative sketch. Then, we finalized IFSAT with the opinions of medical professionals and a caregiver. After the development of IFSAT, we evaluated its reliability and validity. In this study, the scores of caregivers of infants requiring medical treatment were significantly higher than those of caregivers of infants not requiring treatment. IFSAT can be used as a screening to identify infant eczema requiring medical treatment and will hopefully help develop newborns’ skin care.
