Fathers in the family: A hybrid seminar was held at the GNRC

On June 4, 2025, we hosted a seminar featuring renowned family nursing scholar Dr. Francine de Montigny of the Université du Québec en Outaouais, Canada. In this seminar, Dr. de Montigny highlighted the importance of involving fathers and understanding their emotional and practical experiences facing child’s illness, as well as the challenges in healthcare settings regarding paternal inclusion. The seminar also present strategies to better support fathers during specific crises, such as a child’ chronic illness, cancer, and life-limiting illnesses, as well as strategies to engage fathers in research. A total of 28 people attended the seminar onsite and online and engaged in fruitful discussions and reflections on personal experiences.
