Effectiveness of home visit nursing for improving patient-related clinical outcomes in older people: an umbrella review protocol

Dr. Sameh Eltaybani, PhD, RN Project Assistant Professor in Global Nursing Research Center

The number of older people receiving homecare services has been increasing with a growing aging population. Homecare services cover many benefits, such as health promotion, preventive care, referral, health education, and social support. To date, the unique contribution of home visit nursing services for older people is unclear. Therefore, Dr. Eltaybani and his colleagues planned to search and synthesize the literature on this issue. The research team will focus on five outcomes: admission to a hospital, admission to nursing homes or other long-term care facilities, mortality, patient satisfaction, and patient quality of life. In this publication, the research team described their method to search and synthesize the literature and how the findings will be reported. The findings of this research will inform clinicians, clinical practice guidelines, and future research.
