Gerontological Nursing/Wound Care Management
Dr. Mao Kunimitsu is a lecturer in the Department of Gerontological Nursing/Wound Care Management, Graduate School of Medicine, The University of Tokyo. After graduating from the School of Nursing at Chiba University, she was selected as a Research Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (DC2) and earned her Ph.D. in Health Sciences in 2022. Her research focuses on the prevention of subclinical wound infections through optimization of the wound microbiota. She has clarified the mechanisms by which dysbiosis in the wound microbiota leads to excessive tissue inflammation and delayed wound healing. Currently, she is conducting transdisciplinary research integrating nursing and molecular biology to develop technologies for detecting microbial imbalances and care strategies to modulate microbiota.
